The Area

The island
The island consists of rough, forested mountains which often extend to the sea. Around the whole island winds a road full of hairpin bends, which was build in the Dutch colonial era. The island is rugged and undeveloped, while on the flat and fertile parts of the coast, rice, soybeans, coffee, tobacco, cotton, cacao and vanilla are grown.
The second highest volcano in Indonesia, Gunung Rinjani is located on Lombok and is 3726 meters high. Lombok lies west of Bali, and is  separated by the Lombok Strait and to the east of Sumbawa by the Alas Strait.
in front of the northwest coast of Lombok are some islands known as the Gili Islands. They are popular diving and snorkeling destinations because they are surrounded by coral reefs and there is a wide variety of underwater creatures such as sharks and turtles. Visibility is more than 20 meters and the water temperature lies around 26 ° C.
Lombok is the "border" of the Asian and the Australian ecosystem, called Wallace Line. Therefore, Lombok has a wide variety of animals including monkeys, wild cattle, many species of deer (among others the remarkable Muntiacini), wild boar, wild cats and many birds, including the Australian crested cockatoo.

Lombok is a wonderfull island, make you feel relax during your trip through Indonesia. The island is not as touristic as Bali, the beach always has enough place. Not only for swimming and snorkeling, but also to make short trips to get to know the island better.
Lombok has a great nature with beautiful beaches and a deep blue sea, beautiful waterfalls and in front of the coast are beautiful coral islands, the Gili Islands. There are also traditional fishing villages, Sasak villages and markets (pasar). The original inhabitants of Lombok are the Sasak. Despite the many Hindu temples Lombok is mostly Islamic. Lombok is also called the Island of the 1,000 mosques.

Senggigi Beach
Senggigi is the most famous seaside resort of Lombok, located on the west coast of Lombok. Senggigi has beaches of black volcanic sand, and in front of the coast lie magnificent coral reefs. Senggigi Beach is much less touristic in comparison to the beaches of Bali. Senggigi is an excellent place to chill out there and have fun dining. From the resort of Senggigi you can take great trips to special places of Lombok, like the water palace in Narmada, which is well worth a visit. The water palace is a magnificent summer palace, build in 1805 by a Balinese king. You can also go hiking in the nearby mountain villages Senaru and Sembalun, at the foot of the volcano Gunung Rinjani. Or take a day trip from Senggigi to one of the Gili Islands.

 

Kuta Lombok
Kuta Beach is located on the southern coast of Lombok another popular tourist spot. Visit the beaches such as Selong Belanak for surfing , Mawun  Tanjung Aans.  From Kuta, you can visit some traditional Sasak villages

 

A day trip to the foot of Rinjani mountain. On the way, there is a beautiful rainforest with a lot of monkeys.

You’ll begin your day early in the morning – to see the sunrise and the wonderful view of Rinjani.

You may choose to take a walk to Sembalun traditional village, and along the path to Bale Beleq you’ll enjoy the bamboo paradise.

Back to your accommodation you may stop to take a picture on the top and see the scenery of Sembalun villages. You’ll be accompanied with numbers of monkeys.

A traditional and cold water swimming pool (Lemor) is also recommended. along the way you can take a look at the beautiful rice terraces. Visit a traditional market of Pringgabaya.

One day trip to Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep Waterfall. About an hour from Bidara cottages by car – traveling from the east part of Lombok to the North will be wonderful experience. Layered water flow, cool air and green scenery, this area belongs to the Rinjani national park.

Explore the Gili islands. Three tiny islands just 15 minutes from bidara cottage on a boat would offer you a haven of activity. Gili Kondo; which is the main island along with Gili Bidara and Gili Petagan are  popular for snorkeling, swimming or just outright relaxing
There are beach activities, a clear blue ocean, minimal pollution and many breathtaking views. Gili Kondo and Gili Bidara are both hidden paradise surrounded by pristine white sand beaches with crystal clear water, ideal for snorkeling and diving, you may choose to visit all four islands in a day, and our skipper will be waiting for you the whole day and bring you back to your accommodation. To avoid these pristine islands get spoiled, people are not allowed to build accommodations on this island. Near Gili Petagan you can jump out of your boat and enjoy snorkeling, and along the way, you'll see the beauty of Gili Petagan, full with mangroves plantation.  Early in the morning you can view sunrise and see Sumbawa island from the beach, in the fresh air and peaceful environment.

Komodo National Park
From Lombok, it is possible to take a boat trip to Flores. Along the way you visit the island of Komodo or Rinca where the prehistoric Komodo dragons live. Komodo Island, Rinca, and Padar islands and part of the Komodo National Park.
